Hello, i am new to ScubaBoard and still new to scuba diving. Most of my diving has been with Scubapro 156 & 109 2nd stages and mk10 1st stage. I just bought a mk25 evo that i want to dive in warm tropical and temperate waters. Not interested in cold water for now.
I could pick up an Apeks tx100 for a good price, anyone consider that ok to dive hooked up to the mk25 or my other option is to continue to save money and buy a mk17, g260 combo. With a mk17 i could eventually get into cold water diving but that wont be for a while.
As for servicing my scubapro regs they need to be sent or driven to a LDS that services them 230 kilometers away. There is a LDS that does service Apeks half that distance away. It would actually make more sense to buy Apeks but i will admit that i am a little partial to Scubapro since that is the only brand iève used so far.
All comments appreciated, thanks.

What would be the problem with another 156 and 109? Their newer, evolved, plastic counterparts are just more complex and more subject to problems. Sending them in for service every 3 to 5 years is a bummer. But that is what you may be stuck with unles you go DIY.

Well i actually have 2 sets of mk10's and 2 156's and 109's. I don't usually dive the 156 and 109 that are in like new condition, i'm afraid to scratch them up. The 156 i usually dive is in excellent condition also and the 109 in good condition. I just thought it would be nice to keep the prestine looking 156 and 109 hooked up to a mk10 and to sell the other set for some new current offerings. Anyone have experience with a G260? The bundle price on ebay just seems too good to pass up (mk17, g260, pressure guage, 095 octo) for $650 cdn shipped. But it would be much cheaper to buy an Apeks tx100, hook it to the mk25 and hook my Scubapro 190 to it also as the alternate.

service will be much easier on all scubapros as neither brand offers kits to the public. G260v is a great regulator but won't give you anything significant over the 156 and 109's. Service would be the only issue with this combo, the IP settings are close enough, so as long as they are tuned together it will be fine.

You know i paired my 156 and 109 with the mk25 and the difference is noticeable how easier it breathes than with the mk10, i'm going to love this!

I am quite surprised you can notice any difference. You really should not if the Mk10 is in good working order. They both flow a lot more gas than you can use.

Most of my Scubapro metals are a bit on the well worn side. I had one set that was noticeably better looking than the rest. I gave it to my granddaughter to scratch it up a bit.

Well i checked the IP pressures of both and they hold a steady 135psi, when i take a breath from the mk25, there's a little pressure drop. The mk10 drops over twice as much.
The mk10 was serviced last winter. It seems the mk25 is just more responsive. I used an IP pressure gauge hooked up to the BC inflator hose.

If easy breathing is your objective, you need to try a Poseidon Cyklon.
