Just got my Halcyon Pioneer delivered today. I bought it used from Florida, and it had everything but the integrated weight system. Instead, it has four 5 lb weight pockets that attach to the waistband, same as a weight belt. As much as I dont want to spend money I'd rather have the integrated weights and I had a couple of questions regarding this:

1. So far all I've found are the Dive Rite and Halcyon systems. Are these basically the same?

2. Are there any other products out there, perhaps ones that are not so pricey? I know Scuba is not a cheap hobby by any means but $120-140 seems awfully expensive. I paid just a little more than that for my first BC and it was already weight integrated. I need something at least 20 lbs total.

3. Anybody have a spare setup they're looking to sell?
:eyebrow:

Thanks all...

Why not just spend a small amount of money to put 4 5lb soft weights in the pouches? They're already on the waistband from your description, which makes them exactly the same as an integrated weight system...although a bit more flexible...you can remove 5lb at a time from each side if you need to ditch weight.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. It's the "oh crap" factor I'm worried about. Will I really have presence of mind to take the weights out one at a time if it hits the fan bad? I know this technique lessens the chances of DC, but I've done my last 50 dives with the traditional integrated BC and I gotta admit I have gotten used to it and the comfort level it provides...

Perhaps I'll try it out a few times and see how it goes...

A belt, how much cheaper can you get? Are you factoring in the 6 pounds on the plate into your weighting? You can get single tank adapters that add another six pounds for a total of 12 on your BC.

You could check out OMS model: BCA 270 Compact Quick Dump Weight Pocket.
Its on their website at omsdive.com. It attaches right to the webbing and clips on to a D ring for support. I just ordered one, should be in today or tomorrow. They retail for around $110 a set, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper.

If your weighting is right and your rig balanced you should not need to dump alot of weight. I just got some XSScuba weight pouches for 9 bucks each from leisure pro. If you really need to dump weight I don't see why a couple of these with hard weights that have a lanyard threaded through would not work. I got these for trim purposes and to add extra weight when diving dry. But I'll still carry a little in a belt to dump if needed but for the most part I'm looking at not carrying much easily dumpable weight at all.

Jim - you got took. I just bought a few the other day from Scubatoys for $7 each. The yellow ones look real sharp.
