I've had a Pioneer 36 for a few months now and think I have it dialed in pretty well except for one thing. When underwater if I turn sideways the top of the BP (near the shoulder straps) seems to slide down to that side. I don't like the feel of the BP sliding around on my back. I guess I will try shortening the shoulder straps a little but they are going to be tough to get into with a drysuit on if I do this. What am I doing wrong? When I'm u/w should the straps be tight so the bp doesn't slide around?

the straps need to be tight enough for the BP not to slide left & right under water, which also means it might be a little harder to get into the BP but with some practice it should not be too bad.
I dive my straps TIGHT :)

You should have the shoulder straps loose enough that you can get out of your gear on the surface of the water unassisted but not so loose that your gear is sliding around on you. Try tightening them until they are comfortable underwater (no sliding gear) and then try getting out of your rig on the surface. If you can't, loosen them a tiny bit at a time until you can..

I have been having basically the same problem.
My shoulder straps are tight enough that it is difficult to get into and out of unassisted, but the plate still tends to move a bit from side to side, and the straps seem to want to ride outward off my shoulders.
I have been considering crossing the straps behind my head to try to pull them further together, anybody have any thoughts on this?

Under what conditions/scenarios are you experiencing plate movement?

get canted if the waist strap is not snug...just a thought.

If its not tight enough, when you get in the water it will allow the shoulder straps to move around.

Well, after decending to deeper than say 30', there seems to be about 1" or so of movement side to side, just at the top of the plate, and the straps feel like they are spreading out so that they can slip back (up?) off my shoulders when I am horizontal.
The fact that it is only moving at the top of the plate leads me to think that the waist strap is tight enough, but as JeffG mentioned, I think the crotchstrap may be a bit loose. I'm going to tighten that up, and see if that helps.

It just kinda feels like there sould be some way of pulling the straps together

You do have the shoulder straps going into the inside slot (the ones on the bottom), right?
