I am heading off to Cozumel in 3 weeks and have given up real tanning, as I want to preserve my skin, and couldn't do it if I tried. So, I resort to other means. My question is, has anyone has positive experiences with bottled or spray tanning and scuba diving? I'm worried about it rubbing off under my wetsuit and looking uneven after a day or so. If so, I'd rather stay white. I'd appreciate feedback.

what you dont like the dalmation effect ;) ;)

i would guess that because the tan-in-a-can stuff is just a pigment that it would dye more than just the top layer of skin.

again this is an educated guess

You will not have a problem using most products on the market....get several days coverage prior to your trip....will not rub off or get on your suit. The days of your dives just use a hand or body lotion for moisture. I sit prefer the sun method,,,but guys never learn--a macho thing!

both work...just make sure to apply EVERYWHERE ..(otherwise ull look like a dalmation) .and wash ur hands after or ull hav weird marks on ur hands. btw u can get the tan off (if its really bad) with oxy pads. good luclk and hav fun on ur trip!

lol

me - I just prefer to scare small children with my whiteness, and warn the coastguards that the reflection off the sun onto my skin is just a natural hazard! ;)

alternatively, I swear by this stuff http://www.p20.com that actually helps me - wait for it - oh my god - it happens - yes - I - gasp- oh - I - tan :11:

Several years ago, maybe 20?, I tried a spray tan. The only problem I had is that it rubbed off my forehead and onto the silicone of my mask. You may want to ask around to see if this still happens on more current products. Not sure if this has been corrected in newer products.

I would think that "Mystic Tanning" would be ok... as long as you don't scrub the daylights out of your skin while in the shower it should stay on. Or you can be like me and embrace your pastyness!

Hi
Try tanning pills, which are simply consitrate carotien and enjoy. But yo have to take a few weeks prior. Also they sometimes turn your urine orange. A surprise for sure....

Well, I went for the spray tan (not the mystic but the hand air-brushed one, and boy is it bizarre) before my trip to Cozumel. The result was pretty good. I felt great the first few days there, not being the whitest person on the boat. Though I was really good with the moisturizers, I still had a little rubbing from being in a swimsuit and wetsuit all day. But, that was pretty easy to minimize by alternate scrubbing in the shower, to even it out.

The tan lasted, in its prime 3 days. However, I still had some color at a week. I'd definitely spray tan again before going on a warm water vacation.
