In addition to the book that doc suggested, there are a couple of other materials that give a pretty good overview. These include:

- Dress for Success by Dan McKay. This book gives a really good account of the gear that DIR divers use.

- Essentials of Recreation Diving. This DVD has video clips of the skills and drills that introductory DIR classes try to teach. It is also inclusive of a powerpoint that describes some of the why's behind DIR diving.

One thing to note - no amount of video clips and books can replace instruction from a competent instructor.

(If you don't already) Start working out.... That way by the time you take Fundies you won't strugle with the swim test.

Here's a good book Fitness for Divers

The webpage is also really good. Cameron is a DIR diver and regular here on SB
