We are hoping to visit Bonaire in early March..husband is an advanced open water nitrox diver...while I love swimming and snorkeling.

There is a travel company based in the uk called Bonairefuntravel.co.uk which do packages to Bonaire. Does anyone know anything about them ?

Looking at staying at the Harbour Village....again does anyone have any comments to make on it ? It gets terrific reviews on tripadvisor which I always go by.

Thanks !

you've posted this in the wrong place to get any feedback--needs to be under lesser antilles--abc islands

Harbour Village is probably the nicest resort on Bonaire - they certainly have one of the best beaches also.

Their shore dive isn't the best but it does have a small wreck offshore - good enough dive for the Marine Park Tag required dive. Also from there you can swim to Something Special - as the name indicates - it is. As you'd expect, their dive operator Great Adventures has a nice dive boat also. Good shore diving is 5-10 mins. away. Good boat diving at Klein Bonaire is just across the channel. You may want to ask about snorkeling there also while the others dive, at some sites - Jerry's Reef is one - that's possible, the mooring is in about 25' and it gets shallower towards the island. We found sleeping turtles under the coral there at 15' while doing a safety stop after our dive. Watch for dolphins in the channel also, they're often spotted. I know someone who snorkeled with them on the ride back.

You both will like Bari Reef, there's good snorkeling in the shallows and it has the most counted species of fish in the Caribbean. I actually had more fun in 10' of water in some hurricane rubble just south of the dive dock than I did on part of the dive. It's just one resort north of Harbour Village. You could walk there but if hauling dive gear, I'd drive. Den Laman Condos is on-site there, they're pretty nice also if you don't need all the other resort amenities - no beach though.

It's a few minutes to some of the other resorts/restaurants - several can be accessed along the waterfront - and there's also a small plaza walking distance with a few shops. Just a few minute drive to downtown also.

moved to the ABC Islands forum...

diversteve, thanks for all the info...sounds perfect...will research it a bit further and check out flights etc....thanks again !

scarke,
you've picked the nicest place as diversteve mentioned. will be going too in March but I stay much more low brow. love the black durgon where I stay but its not at all fancy. have never stayed at the Harbour Village but I am sure from everything I've read its top notch. its a small island easy to get around so make sure you have a rental truck. Bonaire is a great place if you're into the water!!!Great diving and snorkeling!
Also as I am US based no nothing about
Bonairefuntravel.co.uk.
