Hello,

We are going to Bonaire August 6-13 which is arriving on Saturday and leaving Saturday. Because flights arrive very late, we want to go down the day before and stay at a hotel the night of the 5th, to give us a full day on the 6th. Likewise, we want to stay over the 13th and return on the 14th, so we can enjoy the island an extra day.

We would like a recommendation for a good, clean hotel for one night at the beginning and end of our stay. Does not have to be a dive resort, just a place to crash that is clean and comfortable.

Thanks!

The Divi Flamingo has daily rates - looks like the base 2 double bed room is $140. It's part of the Divi resort chain so I'd assume it's clean. It's walking distance to downtown for restaurants, they do a breakfast buffet and there's a pool plus a small casino. They did some major renovations last year - I don't know what. Divi Flamingo Beach Resort, Bonaire - Bonaire Beach Resorts

I think Eden Beach might also. Or the Plaza - but either will be over $300.

Invade Bonaire 2013 was at the Plaza so there's more details in that forum. I've been to all 3 but not stayed at any of them. I was in a Laguna Villa at the Plaza once and it was fine. But those cost more.

Have you checked with your existing rental to see if they can accommodate you? You may want to try Hotel Roomer - www.roomerbonaire.com, few minutes south of the airport, Black Durgon - not seeing website for them, Djambo - www.djambobonaire.com/en (we've met some Dutch who love this place) or Sonrisa Bonaire - www.sonrisabonaire.com. With the exception of Black Durgon none are on the water. There is also a 'boutique' hotel in Kralendjik, almost directly across from the old Cultimara/now Tops Grocery Store but I'm drawing a blank on the name.

Thanks! We are looking only for a place to crash, not for a resort. We can get rooms at our resort for the extra nights (Capt Dons) for about $150.00 but wanted to save some $$.

Jersey, the sonrisa and roomer look pretty good, thanks! Any more recommendations along those lines are appreciated.

Guy. I am sure you have thought of this but if you are like us and travel with a small dive shop of gear it might be worth a few extra dollars to avoid two added moves and just stay at Capt. Don's

Sonrisa is $95 + the 15% resort tax. Doesn't seem like much of a savings to have to move twice.

Hotel Roomer is in Belnem south of the airport. They have the only restaurant in the area - I've eaten breakfast there once - nothing special but it was fine.

Here's the cheaper places I know of - never stayed at any of them.

Dive Hut Bonaire - in town economy.
Casa Oleander/Coral Palms in Belnem south of the airport. Bonaire vacation rental - diving
There's two B&B's also - I know nothing about either

The Lodge Bed & Breakfast Bonaire is a cosy family-operated twelve room hotel. - Welcome
