Anyone recently back from Bonaire that can tell me the current gas prices??? We're leaving in 3 weeks, and trying to figure out what'll we need in $$$$$.

Although prices are high (~$1.40) you will not needing that much -- it's a small island. For 1 week there we did 3/4 of a tank driving around everywhere.

We were there in Feb. Spent $60 U.S. on gas for a week and we drove a lot! Price per liter is high, but small trucks and small island made it affordable.

You can do what we did - rent a diesel engine truck and save on the fuel bill on Bonaire. Diesel was 1/3 the price of gasoline when we visited.

We rented the Ssang Yong Musso (Group 4) - kept us divers and my wife's parents (non-divers) both happy whether going diving or touring.

Tamas - is that U.S. dollars per litre? I notice your from Canada, so wasn't sure what currency you were quoting. We'll be on island for two weeks, and although I know the island is small, at $5-$6 a gallon, it can add up fast!

Indeed, US per litre....one half fill would be $40NAFL circa $25US -- which lasted for a few days for us.

Still cheap considering how far it has to travel to make to the island!

Thanks!! If my math still works, that should be about $5.30 a gallon .... a bit higher than I remember a few years ago, but it could be so much words!!

Yikes, do you get a litre of rum with that gas purchase? Geebus!

I think the gasoline, diesel, etc. on Bonaire most likely comes from either the refinery on Curacao (most likely) or the refinery on Aruba (slightly less likely than Curacao - the Aruba refinery isn't as high conversion plant as the one on Curacao). Trinidad and / or Venezuela are other likely sources of supply. From there on, transportation cost would be non-competitive vs. these sources.

Those are all a lot closer to the production facility than many inland spots in the USA are to their point of production!

Tax undoubtably counts for a larger fraction of price at the pump than inside the USA.

Just got back saturday..Its about 1.70 guilders a liter now...
I was there for two weeks and probably spent about 100 dollars US?
Drove about 250 klms
