I have not stayed at CD's but I have stayed at Buddies the last 3 years (4 in July ). Both places are nicely layed out, have on site dive shops, docks and boats. As far as a place to stay, they are a tossup IMHO, Sand Dollar and Lions Dive are also in the same area and are good choices as well (SD,BD,LD,CD).They are located very close together, Lions Dive is between them so you are basically diving the same reef area no matter which place you stay. The best advise it to compair the deals that you get and see which works out best for you. I just looked at CD's web site and there don't seem to be any pictures of it. The pictures on Buddies site are pretty accurate. As best as I know, all the rooms at Buddy are full condos, they have a kitchen. Looks like some of the rooms at CD's are just rooms. We find that we eat lunch at the room a lot (PBJ's mostly). It saves us some money and I just like having a coffee pot and a frig for drinks. What we get is the "Dive and Drive" package from Buddy. It includes condo/truck/airport xfers/buffet breakfast/ 6 boat dives and unlimited air for shore diving. We drop the boat dives, saves us about $100pp. The drive through air station at Buddies is also very nice, no need to cart tanks, I don't know how CD's is set up for shore tanks. If you have never been to Bonaire, you will want a vehicle so some sort so make sure you figure that into the cost. I would NOT get any sort of all meals included package (with the exception of breakfast). There are lots of good places to eat on Bonaire. The house restuarants at CD's, BD and LD are all good, but I like to eat at lots of different places.

In short, location/room quality/diving facilities are all a tossup at all of the places I mentioned above. Best price and least hassle would be my swaying factors.

We have been to Bonaire 6.. or is it 7 times. This March there were 6 of us.

Buddy's is the place for us. We especially love the dive n drive package. A breakfast buffet is included... pretty decent. You can definitely skip lunch if you go!

The last couple of times we brought a box of frozen food with us that was packed in dry ice: steaks, sausages, lunch meats, etc. There are at least two good-sized supermarkets on the island, but like all islands, there are times when they are not particularly well stocked. (Read: just before the weekly boat comes it.) However, that being said, local baked goods are scrumptious!

There have bee lots of posts about Bonaire; just do a search & you'll come up with lots. Several of mine included. It comes up THAT frequently here on the Board.

Feel free to email me if you have any particular questions.
