I'm heading to Bonaire for the first time and have sort of a site specific question. What is the norm for tipping at Deep Blue View? I'm not looking for how much, but rather do you tip or not.
A friend says that he doesn't tip there as the owners refuse it and since they crew their own boat, there is no real staff to speak of. He likens it to not tipping the owner of a restaurant, but you do tip your waiter.
I'm not looking to turn this into a tipping debate, but I tend to disagree with my friend. I feel that tips should be given to whomever provides excellent service. Just because the owners fill dual roles that shouldn't exempt them. But, if tipping would offend them, I'll refrain. Looking for any thoughts from others that have been to Deep Blue View.
Also, I'm reading conflicting info about tipping at restaurants on Bonaire. Is the tip included in the price of a meal in a tax of some sort, or is it normal for the individual to add 15-20% to the bill?
Thanks for any help you are able to offer.
