I heard from a dive shop operator in the Keys that there is a blue hole about 30 miles out in the Gulf from Marathon. Can any one confirm its existence? If so is it worth the ride?

I know there's one 30 miles off Captiva but in the big picture, there's quite a few of them in the Gulf.

There are a couple of them in the gulf. As said in the the last post there is one about 30 miles off Captiva , another 28ish miles out of Naples . And bunches of sinks north of here. Both Captiva and Naples holes are interesting dives but fairly deep . Both start off around 90fsw.

Yeah, there are several, some start within recreational depths and fall well below. Some start well below rec levels and fall to some serious depths.

Shhhhhhhh....one of them holds more shovel-nose lobsters than you can shake a stick at...as well as a pack of mean a$$ GGs.

Thanks for the replys. I am familiar with the ones off of Naples and there are several off the coast of Crystal river. There also a few on the east coast off of Flagler county, but I have not heard of one in the Keys.
Matt- I won't tell any one our secret, but that is precisely the reason I would like to find it (if it exists) in the Keys. Can you imagine the sea life that it would attract!

There are half a dozen others I know of. Some are well known, Amberjack Hole, Green Banana, and others .... not so much.
