I will be cruising to Cozumel in December with my family and am looking to book a private charter for diving. All four of us are certified divers and two of us have our own equipment. I have narrowed down the selection to Blue Angel or Dive with Martin. Does anyone have an opinion (good or bad) about either of these ops? I am also open to other recommendations as well. Our cruise ship will be docking for 12 hours.

Thanks!

I have stayed at Caribe Blu almost twice now (going back in a week) and have also used them (Blue Angel) from a cruise ship as well. The best part is after your boat dive you can dive for free right at the hotel for the price of a rental tank. Very lovely night dive as well!

Have used DWM several times when my regular DO was full. They did a nice job. Well run DO IMO.

Blue Angel is the best I have found. On the internet or call ask for Alec she will take care of your diving needs

We dove with Martin last May. Nice operation, good DM's and reasonably sized boats. I would dive with them again.

I dove with DWM earlier this year and had no problems. He has fairly new rental gear for those in your group that don't have their own gear. The shop is at one of the ports so it would be access for you also. They run a cash business and I found the prices were slightly cheaper than the other shops. Also, they leave early so often we were the first people in the water. Good luck and have fun.

DIVE WITH MARTIN. We dove with them back in June. Good dive masters, clean boats, great service.

I have been diving with Martin for a couple of years now and really like the operation, very good DM's & captains; small, fast, reliable boats with 6 divers per DM max.

He also has some the best prices I've found on the island, cash only, also if you can get your hands on some used prescrition glasses he is collecting them for his charity this year and I belive with 2 pair of glasses you get some kind of extra discount, check his website to be sure.

When is you ship scheduled to arrive in Coz? The reason I ask is Martin's boats leave at 7:30a.m. for morning dives so if you are not coming in on the day of your dives check into afternoon dives as you may not be able to disembark from the cruise ship in time to make the a.m. dive.

Like Parrothead said, the DWM dive shop is right at the foot of the International Pier so if your boat docks there or at the Mayan Pier you are within walking distance.

If you dock downtown Blue Angel would be closer, but not as short of a walk. Although I think both will probably pick you up at a boat pier in the downtown area for the dive if you are coming in downtown.

I really like Blue Angel at the Caribe Blu Hotel. We just returned from our 3rd trip to Coz and this operation was the best (this was our first experience with Blue Angel). Very professional yet laid back. We dove 7 days with them and had various dive masters during this time. All were professional and a pleasure to dive with. They also have a nice shore dive set up. I highly recommend this operation. No BS; just good, honest, professional, friendly operation.
