Hello,

In Southern Crete, there is an old wreck site including a few green "glass" blocks as shown on the pictures.

Not sure this is glass. It can cut your skin like glass, weight seems similar and light goes trough it.
Also on the site, many amphori broken in tiny pieces and some kind of structure covered with grey stuff, not sure wether it's part of the boat or anchor or ?

Are those blocks common in old wreck in Mediterranea and does anyone knows what it is exactly ? :idk:

Thanks in advance for any information

Most likely it is glass. Bulk glass was a trade item in the clasical period. Send an email to the Institute of Nautical Archaeology in either Texas or Turkey and they can tell you. Here is the Turkey web page. INA Bodrum's headquarters

They might have somone who has already documented the wreck site or who would want to.

Thank you.
Just learned about that bulk glass trade.
One french researcher is interested as well in that one.
Will post here if learn anything new.
