The new Black Ice drysuit is the worlds first Merino lined drysuit, which provides extra comfort and warmth for SCUBA divers. It is now available for immediate shipment. Ever since a limited production run were previewed to dive industry insiders last Fall, there has been a great groundswell of interest in the Black Ice, and the suit is now here to fill the desires of dealers and consumers everywhere.
The Black Ice is on the cutting edge of drysuit technology, employing a thermocompressed neoprene material lined with Pinnacles patented Merino lining system. Combining the two materials allows the Black Ice to reach levels of warmth, flexibility, durability, and comfort never before seen in a drysuit, even in the worlds most extreme diving conditions.
Pinnacle uses a unique combination of heat and pressure to permanently compress 7mm neoprene into a 4mm thickness. Neoprene suits are inherently warmer and stretchier than trilaminate suits, making them more suitable for colder waters. The thermocompressed neoprene is incredibly rugged. When fitted with the included Kevlar knee and shin panels and plastisol reinforcements on the seat and sock soles, the suit is ideally suited to commercial, industrial, and military divers.
Merino, previously only used in Pinnacle wetsuits and undergarments that are worn against the skin, has tested out to also be an excellent addition to the Black Ice drysuit. Most obviously, having the extra layer of Merino wool between the diver and the outside environment helps keep those cold temperatures out of the suit. Less apparent to the naked eye is the fact that Merino absorbs water vapor, effectively removing perspiration and humidity from the air trapped inside the suit during a dive. This leaves a divers skin drier, allowing him to be warmer and more comfortable. The Merino lining system can only be found in Pinnacle products.
Other features that are supplied as standards with the Black Ice include:
Front-entry design
YKK-BDM heavy-duty diagonally mounted main zipper
1mm neoprene zipper cover with outer zipper
Neoprene neck seal
Warm neck collar
Heavyweight virgin latex wrist seals
Low-profile 360°-rotating SiTech valves
Adjustable elastic suspenders
Two pockets (one on each thigh)
Each pocket includes Velcro closure, three attachment points, shock chord, and grommeted drain hole
