I'm stripping some early 70s US divers vinyl coated steel tanks and the classic recommendation is to use ZRC galvilite to recoat them.

ZRC make a few other options that look viable for cold galvanizing and I was wondering if anyone has had tried any of those...

Galvilite is the closest match to new hot dip galvanize. I found it best to use a foam roller and roll on 3 coats, allow to dry for at least a week before use. I have used the others but prefer the galvilite.

I talked to ZRC directly and they recommended galvilite or their classic formula. I have a quart of galvilite on the way.

They were really helpful and recommended pouring a layer of xylene over the remaining liquid in the can to keep it fresh after a partial use.
