I often use a line to find my way back to the moring on boat dives. Recently I started using spools instead of reels because they are more compact and less prone to fowling. I was wondering if you guys used any special tricks to deploy them and reel them back in (in terms of hand/finger work).

Thanks

nope.
nothing special.

I've heard you can clip a bolt snap to the side and use it like a handle. I havn't tried it though.

A finger spool is easy to deploy, but more difficult to reel in again, compared to a reel. But a spool is so much easier to stow than a reel.

Got no tricks for ya, 'cept keep the spool stationary and wrap the line around it. Don't wrap the spool around the line.
