Personally, I would only get my gear serviced by a local reputable dive shop. Sending regulators around the country costs money and your gear will be banged about or get lost/ stolen. Build a relationship with the local store and you will get better service. Saving a few bucks buying your own service kit will only annoy the service tech. They don't earn much and you trying to save a few pennies at their expense won't go down well. Your regulators are life critical bits of kit - treat them as such and don't be such a tight arrse. On the other hand you could always buy your own parts and tools, learn how to service your gear in your own time and save even more money.
Don't mean to sound harsh, but thems your choices.
