Still need some stuff...where do you suggest i shop? In Bali itself? Is there any places that you can recommend?

I am looking for Fins and Boots.

Depends on where in Bali, ru there now?

In Kuta you have several choices in other areas you may be limited to a couple close by places, but there are several on the north east coast.

Remember generally the best prices are negotiated, always ask for a discount, prices should be lower or the same with the US.

I'll be staying in Kuta in the beginning.
Which is the best shops? or should I just shop around by area?

I was also thinking of doing a AOW. Via Email geko gave the best price..other were seriously more expensive.
What kind discount from the listed price could i expect? aquamarine offered 33% discount.

I did my original PADI Cert with Geko dive, they do a good job and had good rental equip. I would dive with them again anytime and I've seen others say there prices can't be beat also.

As for discounts on equipemnt in kuta you should be able to get 25% off. For 1 day dive trips 33% or at least matching the compititions best prices should be doable. Prices will depend greatly on the number of other divers they have going and transportation logistics (extra cars/boats cost money, extra air is cheap)

To give you an idea I paid under $200 for my open water cerification (class, pool and OW) in 2000 I think the advertised rate was $400 then. But I was a last minute single add on to a class they already had scheduled and I had a motorbike to transport myself to the pool and dive sites.

Finally if all you need is boots and fins just find a shop with a good selection, and don't pay too much. Scuba Duba Doo Dive Center - or Bali Marine Sports would be my first stops
