I want to do three or four days of diving in the Tulamben/Seraya area. What is the best upscale lodging in the area. Scuba Seraya is full during the week I would be there. Also, is it reasonable to do four days of diving with three or four dives a day in this area?

Accomodations within walking distance from the wreck: Mimpi, Matahari, Paradise, Bali Coral, Tauch Terminal and Puri Mada. I consider Mimpi and Tauch Terminal are more on upscale than others.
Dive site at Tulamben area: The wreck, coral garden, drop-off and batu kelebit - and 10 km to the east : Jemeluk/amed and nipah - 5 km to the west : Kubu.
Three days shall be okay to cover above sites.
I am not getting boring to dive the wreck 2 - 3 time each time visit.

Again, I second Wisnu's comments- we did three dives and on one day four dives and stayed for four days. We were just about done at the end of day 5. Mimpi is the 'nicest' of the resorts, nice place to eat dinner overlooking the water and hte food was OK. Other resorts inthe area are OK too, but not what you would consider upscale.

Mimpi is more centrally located I believe for upscale resort. Dropoff & reef are close. The wreck is a 300-400m hike down the beach, but porters will carry your gear. Seraya is a 20-30 min local boat ride away. All dives are beach dives except Seraya, which is not to be missed for great critters. The key to seeing the best stuff is a great guide, unless you're really good at finding your own subjects. I've spend 7-10 days diving this area without getting bored. A large variety of species. Since I don't require upscale accommodations I stay at Paradise Beach Bungalows (about $25-30/nite for a deluxe room).

I would recommend going to Kuta/Legian/Seminyak first and finding a dive shop there - and they can arrange everything for you. Tulamben is out of the way, but the wreck is nice and worth it. We used http://www.atlantis-bali-diving.com/ when we dove the wreck, and the guides/DM were pretty good. You can ask them for an upscale hotel and they will arrange it, they also have 2 very nice aircon vans to get you there and back.

Hi Sandapanda 7, When you say guides/DM were pretty good, can you expand a little? Going to Bali in August, thinking of using Atlantis.

for diving tulamben for me it's the tauch terminal. not because it's up scale. but its location. from the tauch terminal you can oversee all 3 locations. most important is the wreck. you simply don't dive there when 10 to 20 divers just getting ready for hitting the site. with the other resorts, when you deside on your dive spot, the porters will carry your equipment to this place and thats it. but my favorable dive was coral garden, just in front of the tt

Tauch is pretty good because of its location as others pointed out - Drawback is that if you want a guide to show you the small critters then they dive according to a schedule that you cannot influence. Personally I liked Tulamben Wreck Divers as they have very good guides that know their critters and you set the schedule i.e. you tell your guide when you want to go and not the other way around - Very friendly and professional place. Only drawback is that they are not on the beach.
