I'm headed to Naama Bay for a week long dive trip but I still am looking at hotels. I was wondering if any of you know of which hotels have a beachfront with a good reef to snorkle to or shallow shore dive? I'm traveling with two girl friends that don't dive and want to do some snorkling off of the beach. Thanks,

Rob

Naama bay has no real dive sites, you will see a little coral etc but your best bet is a trip on a dive boat so you can dive and the girls can snorkel, or choose a hotel outside Naama bay.

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking from photo's and stuff that Naama Bay doesn't have much of a reef or to see right off the shore line for diving/snorkaling. I will be booking boat dive trips and the girls will for sure want to go on that. I'd guess some of the dive sites the boats go to have most of the reefs at 25+ ft? Probebly just a bit too deep for snorkaling??

All the Local sites, those within one hour from Naama, are fine for snorkeling and diving, for a real treat Tiran has a good mix of great Diving and snorkeling, well worth the effort.

I have had some great dives in Naama Bay. You often see eagle rays; last time I saw 2 huge spotted rays. You get sea horses and sometimes a turtle. The "Movenpick" reef is small but always lots to see. It's a great dive for photography and a really nice gentle dive. Not all centers can let you dive there; Red Sea College, Ocean College and Sinai Divers and maybe Camel.
Snorkelling is not good however unless they are very inexperienced and then the area infront of the Marriott is OK.
Hope this helps.
