We are going to be in the area 10 days, what is the best diving I can get. I hear the cenotes are not to be missed, thinking of going with Tankha and doing a combination of local reef dives, 2 dives in cozumel and 2 cenote dives. Should I do more cenotes? Is there a better dive op in Puerto Morelos or Play del carmen? Thanks for your input, Jonathan

is that the x-puha palace? i did 2 cenote dives in the Mayan Riviera, and they are absolutely amazing. i would highly recommend it. i did the chac-mool cenote and loved it, definitely my favorite dives so far.

Hey! Check out Wet Set Divers in Muerto Morelos.

I only did the Discover Scuba with them in November, but it was awesome. Plenty of fish, two nurse sharks. Paul and crew took me out on a small boat.

I met some people there that had been diving with Paul and they really enjoyed their dives.

Check out their website!

Hey QS:

I'm going to be there too... actually in Playa del Carmen. Can't wait to get away, there should also be some good reef diving in the area as well..

Hasta luego,

Rick

X-Pu Ha Palace??? I did camping in 1996 on the beach in X-Pu Ha, there were no buildings or resorts. Is there really a resort there now?

I loved Dos Ojos cenote but I hear it's crowded now. Fantastic dives.

A better question would be "How many resorts are there now?"

I dove Dos Ojos last spring and loved it. Was not very crowded.

I suggest checking these guys out: http://www.gocenotes.com/. I dove with them and they were excellent.

We are staying in the Mayan Palace, located between Playa del Carmen, and Puerto Morelos. Thank you for your suggestions so far. I know I'm going to love the Cenotes, but I do want a variety. We'll be there Jan 19-28. Good bye siding in the snow, hello warm water:D :palmtree:

Tank Ha is a great outfit: I have dived twice with them in the last year. I highly recommend two of their divemasters: Francisco and Ivan. Both manage to pay exactly the right amount of attention to divers who need extra supervision without diminshing the experiences of more competent divers. This is not to say the other Tank Ha divermasters are chopped liver. I think you've got the right idea of mixing Cozumel, cenote, and Playa dives. Try to get a night dive in too, if you can. Have fun!
