Hello everyone.

I'll be traveling to Maldives in early October for about four days. I will be with family so won't do a liveaboard. I'm considering resorts in three different atolls: North Male, South Male, and North Ari (near hammerhead point). Which area will provide the highest diving yield for a short vacation such as mine? I would love to dive with hammerheads if possible.

Thanks for the help.

I worked on Bandos Island which is in North Male, its only 20 mins away from the airport by boat.

Its great for families and not as ridiculously expensive as some other places. There is both shore diving as well as the opportunity to do 3 boat dives per day too.

However in one year I did not see a hammerhead at any of the sites we visited.

If you have only 4 days I would consider staying close by as you will otherwise waste alot of dive time travelling.

i would also recommend Bandos Island resort considering that you are traveling with th family and the duration of your stay.

However I would recommend staying for 5 nights as you will get 1 night free ( Room only ) if you stay for 5nights.

If you require any other information on Bandos please let me know.

If you are for whale shark and Manta then I recommend South Ari Atoll. However the general diving in North Ari Atoll around Maayafushi is better.
Are those Hammerheads still in Rashdoo?

october is a very good month. We had whalesharks, Mantas and Hammers in Ari (south) in Vilamendhoo. But have you considered Eryiadu (North Male)?

Hammerheads can usually be seen in the channels. Great drift dives.

Thanks for all the replys. Any thoughts on the diving around the Taj Coral Reef in North Male Atoll?
