I,m planning a dive to Kingston sometime around the end of Sept or early October and would like some opinions on the best 3 wrecks to dive within about ahalf hour boat run from each other and from Kingston. Also would like the names of cheap motels close to the water that could be recommended. Thanks

Since I don't know your skill level or experience I will add 3 others to the ones Tom gave you. If you are advanced the the 3 Tom gave are great wrecks. but unless you have a very fast boat. much farther than a half hour out.
But if you are looking for some beginner to intermediate dives try
Wolfe Islander II, Aloha, or KPH, they are close with in half hour of each other you can get the GPS #'s from the thread at the start of Ontario fresh water freaks page. If you want Info on any of the wrecks Check Toms web page or mine.
As for motels click the Kingston link on my page and it will get you to a list of motels here in Kingston

i would second tom's first three. well worth it.

but do confirm that the boat you will be on can do 2 dives leaving at 9 and return by 1 or 1:30 at the latest. i went out on a boat that shall remain nameless, and it was the slowest thing i've ever been on. Seriously, a canoe woulda given this thing a run for it's money. we were supposed to leave at 9:00, but didn't leave until 9:45 as the "captains" were having breakfast, and then we got passed by EVERY BOAT on the water on the way out to the dive sites and back. We got back at 5:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the "captain" ran into one of the docks while trying to moor the boat in the marina (the one girl told the other to "stop" and she yelled back "it's in neutral" about 2 seconds before the bang. it might have even been funny if it hadn't been an 8 hour day.

but definitely the three tom recommended.

I guess you didn't ask the right questions when booking your charter.
1. Do they have insurance
2. Do the boats meet Transport Canada regulations.
3. Are the "Captain's" licenced
4. Do the have O2 on board, do they know how to use it
5. Can the "Captain" dock the boat :D
