I was there in early June with a group from Maui Dreams Dive Company. The shore diving at Beqa lagoon Resort starts right from the beach in front of the equipoment shack. Grab your equipment and a tank and walk straight ahead. Once you descend, you can either follow the reef to the right or the reef to the left. We did the reef to the left twice, and the reef to the right many, many times. I'm not sure why we usually headed to the right, but we never tired of that reef. We even did a night shore dive along that reef.

We were there from June 4 to June 11 (Fiji time). During that time I did 18 dives in total -- 12 boat dives (including the two shark dives) and 6 shore dives. Between the excellent diving, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the comraderie among our dive group, and the incredible meals, I ended up having the best time of my (admitedly short) diving career. In fact, I've already signed up for the Maui Dreams trip to Beqa Lagoon next June.

Peace,
Dave

My family and I absolutely love Beqa Lagoon Resort -- it's our favorte dive location to date. I think the dive we enjoyed the most was "Joe's Best". Not only were the dives the best but the food is also wonderful.

Hodge Podge! The diving from shore at Beqa Lagoon is easily accessible and fun to do. I've been there four times now and will go for a 5th next year. We always do a shore dive the afternoon we arrive to get acclimated. Vis along shore can range from 20 - 80 feet in my experience, but it never disappoints. I remember the first time I went to Beqa and did a shore dive with only about 20 feet vis. I was amazed at what we saw! Throughout the week as fellow divers raved about things they'd seen on our boat dives, I realized I'd seen a bunch of that stuff on our first dive there - from shore!

Anway, you can dive to the left or the right - there are "walls" on both sides. Check the tides for the best dive times. Have fun!

There is also a nice little coral head straight out (slightly left). The dive staff can tell you how to locate it. I did 6 dives from shore, three of them at night. It is quite shallow, maybe 25 feet or so. It was a nice little shore dive, very easy, with a variety of creatures, but really in no way compares to the boat dives there. It was my first dive trip, with maybe 15 dives before going there. I found the diving easy, except for a bit more current than I like on two of the 14 boat dives I did. Like you, I was there the last week in September. We had beautiful weather. The sea was a bit rough the first day (two sick on our boat), but nice thereafter.

Have a great time!

Gary
