Hello,

Just returned from a cruise that hit belize. We were lucky to dive the Turneffe Atoll while there and now I want to go back for a full week. I have a few questions.
1) Has anyone stayed at the Banana Beach Resort? I had a friend who stayed there and said it was great but she is not a diver. Have any of you divers stayed there? How is their dive op?
2) If you stay in San Pedro, do they include trips out to the Atolls or is that too far?

Any other recs for where to stay. I have been checking out Ramon's and they look good.

Thanks for any help!

I stayed at the Sunbreeze. I was good...didn't spend much awake time in the room but then I never do on vacation.
The operators will take you to the out islands but it is a long, expensive and potentially rough ride.
BC's bar is a great place to hangout on the evenings!

One more question. We just dove the Turneffe Atoll. Does the diving off San Pedro even compare to this (better/worse/about the same)?

My opinion...much worse. And it is just my opinion.

Stayed at Sunbreeze too - good and convenient for town (more so than Banana Beach) havent dived with Aqua Dives (on site at Sunbreeze) havent hear ultra fab things about them. Amigos del Mar and Protech (just a walk along the beach) would get my vote. They also take dive trips to the atolls on certain days. Just go and ask at the office (amigos - dont know about Protech). Enjoy your stay (ps - everyone who stays at Banana Beach seems to really like it - every time i have been in a boat that picks people up there it always looks like there is a bit of a scrum for sunloungers) Also a fair hike from town. Depends on what your looking for though. Enjoy your trip - I love it in San Pedro! Hilary
PS - have just realised i havent answered your question at all! Yes the diving on the atolls is better - but you can get there from SP
