We dove with Amigos Del Mar when we were there last April. They were great.
There is tons of info on this site:

We were in San Pedro... If you are into just the diving I would suggest staying in Turneffe or one of the Atolls... Better diving. San Pedro is really fun though..good luck!

Is San Pedro even worth diving? I am trying to plan a trip to Belize for early next year. My wife and I have dove the Turneffe Atoll once. Is there any good diving in San Pedro?

San Pedro does have some excellent diving, especially at the lower depths. The wall starts at 200' so most people won't see it, but the spur-and-groove coral formations between say 70'-130' are fascinating. Much better than the Red Sea where I used to dive, though there's less wildlife. San Pedro's biggest problem is that all dive sites face east on a N-S reef, so if the wind's between NE and E conditions can be a bit rough, with no alternatives. But we get to dive most of the time. The best diving is say June-August when conditions are usually flat calm, water is very clear, and it's HOT. For some reason that's very much low season here, so there's lots of accommodation available and prices are negotiable.

We really enjoyed the diving because it was sooooo easy to get to, we would leave at 8 or 9 in the morning, dive and then be back to explore the rest of the island by noon... It was really fun. We dove with a combination of experienced/inexpereinced divers... that was unfortunate as on what was supposed to be the best dive with a swim through we had to take it easy as we had someone who was struggling with their boyancy... bummer. It was not nearly as "alive" as Coz but it was really fun, and almost dropping on a nurse shark on my first dive was really EXCITING. I have some pics posted at http://community.webshots.com/user/klfraser11 They were my first underwater pics so don't laugh... If we hadn't had our non-diving daughter with us we would have spent another day on a day trip to the atolls.. Did I say that we loved the crew at Amigos Del Mar...and loved Banana Beach resort... oceanfront room.... it was great! And the people of San Pedro... the golf carts...the food... it was all great.

Also, I've heard many good things about Protech also..
We did dive The Blue Hole... I wrote about it in this forum and also the Ambergris Caye forum (BNBelizeSoon) - What an experience for a ONE time thing. I am glad I did it but will never do it again. I got kinda narked... The two dives after were AMAZING.

Great, I was actually looking at Banana Beach. Tell me about the resort. I think you have me sold on going to Belize and staying there for my next trip!
Thanks for the pictures.

Get an oceanfront room.. I was on the 1st floor but probably would have felt more comfortable up higher (beautiful 18 year old daughter, too many windows.. - didnt want to leave stuff on the porch as it was right on the beach) and I'm sure the views were awesome up higher. We rented a golf cart for the whole time (again...18 yr old daughter), ate out often (Jambel Jerk was my favorite). It wasn't too far from town, I would have loved to walk to town on the beach... again with the 18 year old. She loved it there, slept til noon then dragged us all over in the golf cart.. She did have the jello shots waiting for us :eyebrow: ...
Many mornings Amigos would pick us up on the dock out front.. after talking with them by e-mail we stopped in to meet them when we got settled and set up most of our dives. They were great.
Breakfasts at the resort were the best.. the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Have a great time, we did...
