Whats the best way to get to Ambergris Caye? We are flying from the US Midwest. All trips I find fly into mainland Belize, then say in the fine print to notify your resort for ferry or flight arrangements. Our group doesn't want to be stuck on the mainland trying to find a way to the resort? Also resort recommendations would be appreciated. Right now we have 2 couples (2 divers & 2 non)

Boat! We took it...about 45 minutes with one stop....primitive boat it was. Maybe these days they don't have bail buckets on the floor?

Not a simple trip. From Colorado, the answer is:
Fly from Denver to DFW. Change planes. Fly to Belize. Change to a little 12 passenger puddle jumper. Fly to Ambergris Caye. Get on a water taxi and go to the resort.

Did 2 Belize trips in the last 6 months. Southwest had specials, RT from Houston $298 to Belize City. Either pay the ~$200-250 RT tree topper from Belize City airport to Ambergris or taxi to ferry dock (taxi drivers all know) for ~$15. You'll be on the island in 45" to 1'. Easy greasy.

As you can see, it's actually pretty easy to get to AC or anywhere else in Belize for that matter. AC is a very popular destination, so you won't have any trouble with logistics.

Either fly from Goldson, the international airport where you'll enter and leave Belize, or take a cab from the airport to the water taxi in Belize City, about a 20 minute cab ride from the airport. I suspect most people fly as it's easier and quicker but there's more adventure to go by boat. There are two Belize airline/puddle jumpers: Maya and Tropic, with no real difference between them. There are flights to and from AC all the time as well as the bigger villages in Belize. You can book the flights directly off their websites.
