Hi - Looks like there are lots of experts out there - I need to plan a quick trip for the very end of May beginning of June and was thinking about Belize because I have never been there - but also open to Cozumel or the Tulum area. I am looking for ease in planning because I am busy with work and ease once I get there because I need to chill out. Any recommendations for specific places? Thanks for your suggestions.

I would stick with Cozumel at this point, if you don't mind daily drift diving. I was not impressed with Belize--ambergris caye--but maybe it was the wrong time of year... If you want hints on places to stay in Cozumel, I have spent a ton of time there and can recommend.

Having been to both, I'd have to say Cozumel too...........Belize is quite expensive and heavily taxed. We did 5 days in Jungle, and 7 nights out on Ambergris Caye. Diving right off AC the reef is nice but sorta hammered. Going out to Lighthouse reef or Turneffe is a whole nother story. AWESOME.

I'd suggest staying at the Fiesta Americana, real nice clean affordable all inclusive place.

Cozumel, great fun, and much cheaper than Belize.

I prefer Belize, but I have only dived the atolls, which, I think, are better than the mainland diving. I like the direct flight from Newark too. If you go, I recommend the Aggressor--newly refitted, great crew--or the Turneffe Island Lodge.

I agree with the above. If you are near Belize, choose Lighthouse or Turneffe only. My choice would be Coz.

Thank you for all of the great feedback. Pictures too! I think it is Cozumel for this trip since it is a short one and you all thought so too. How exciting to have a count down to PNG. Happy diving, Hilary

I am headed with my eight-year-old to Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan, late July. He'll be doing camp while I do OW dives with the shop. Any feedback out there on dive spots and day trips, best kid things..? If i am posting to the wrong "thread", gee I apologize but i am new to this site..

You have to b crazy if you don't try Belize once. U can always go to Cozumel annually. Defininetly check out the outer Cayes Like Turneffe, Lighthouse, Long Caye, and one of the best is Half Moon. Forget about Ambergris and stay on Caye Caulker. Cheaper for the Blue Hole too. Probably you won't go back to the Blue Hole though. More like the Black Hole, except for the occassional sharks. I had a Bull Shark swim up to me close enough to grow my eyes without chumming in my reg. Exhilarrating when I turned around at 90'. Other than that there is nothing to see except for stalagtites @ 120'+.
