Doing the 10/27 Nekton trip, was going to return on Sat. 11/3 but Continental just called and my connection from Houston to NY was just canceled. Rather than trying for an earlier flight and killing more dive time on Friday I guess I will change to a Sunday flight and get in a full day of diving on Friday. Maybe I should be thanking the airline!!

I know Nekton recommends the Princess Hotel but what else is available in Belize City for the one night. Just looking for a clean place to lay on the beach or by the pool for the day, have a good meal and dry out. Any suggestions?

I feel kind of weird asking about this when the people of Belize are getting ready for another storm, lets hope they only get a minor hit!

the Radisson is on the beach with a dive shop there. the Princess has a casino. There isn't much beach in Belize City though.

There's also the Radisson, probably similar. I've only hung out there to kill time, seemed ok. The Aggressor and Sun Dancer dock in front of the Radisson. I don't know where the Nekton docks but I'm guessing it's just someplace closer to the Princess. They're both on the waterfront but no real beach.

We stayed at the Radisson in March - it fit our needs which sounds about like what you are looking for.

There is a nice hotel across the street from the Radisson that I stay at - The Great House. Above the Smokey Mermaid if you have been there. An old colonial building, good size rooms - very old style. A little different than your standard hotel room. No pool however - I have been known to hang out at the Radisson's pool while waiting for a flight. Prefer it to the Princess.

The Nekton does not dock anywhere near the Radisson - they dock in an industrial area south of town. I made that mistake my first Nekton trip. I had seen the Nekton dock at the cruse ship docks on another trip to Belize and assumed that was where they docked every week - so figured I didn't need the ride if I was at the Great House just three blocks away. WRONG!

Thanks everyone I booked the Radisson for the night. Hopefully I will be wiped out after a week of great dives. Only got in 25 dives on last years trip - need to do better this year!

FWIW I saw The Great House reviewed on a travel channel show recently. Not that's that's necessarily reliable, but looked pretty nice.
