I am looking for a camera and housing at least to just take with me on dives and snap some shots. It doesn't have to be anything top of the line, just a decent beginner camera and housing. I found a combination of an Olympus D580 w/ PT-021 housing for about $135, which after searching around on here and google seemed like a pretty decent deal. Seem like a good deal and go with that, or does someone else have an even better deal I cannot refuse?

If you have the budget, get the Canon G10 and its UW enclsoure, its not the top of the line and neither is it cheap.
Take it from me, when I started doing uw photography, I went with the cheapest setup I could find, only to get an entirely new rig 6 months later. Get something that will meet your needs as your photographic skills grow. Cheapest is not necessarily the best option either.
edit: From time to time check out this classifieds, because almost every week, someone will sell their camera gear.

Have decided to upgrade and am selling my Sea&Sea DX-8000G camera/housing along with a charger and 3 batteries. Will also throw in a 1G and 2G ultra high speed card. Everything has been well cared for and rinsed thoroughly after each trip. I had the camera overhauled by an authorized dealer 1 year ago.

It's a great camera and you don't really need to run out and buy a strobe right unless you intend to shoot wide angle. All my pics have been with the internal flash. You can shoot fully automatic, manual or any combination.

Asking $600 OBO. I accept paypal.

Feel free to pm me and I'll email you some pics I took with it.

thanks for the responses!

coralcruiser, I am going to keep looking, I wasn't really ready to spend $600 yet, but like subzero mentioned it might be worth it in the long run. I will let you know!

It's great to start off with but has the ability for you to grow as well as you can start using some of the manual settings when you feel comfortable to increase your skills. It also has 2 fiber optic connector on top of the housing when you're ready to add a strobe.

I will consider all reasonable offers... think of it as a July 4th sale! :D
