I will be staying at the Villa Blanca next week. Is there much to do at the beach club across the street? Any Volleyball? if not where should I go after a dive day for just a few extra hours of sun. 6 Days and counting!!!

I think that there's a VB net there, but not much else. It's pretty small and there's not really a beach; none of the hotels along that stretch of shoreline have a real beach.

There are lots of nice beach clubs farther south - Nachi Cocom, Playa Corona, San Francisco, Playa Palancar... Some of them have jetskis, parasailing, sailboats, and catamaran sailboat rides. You won't be bored.

Stayed at the Villa Blanca Jan 9 - 16. This is a nice hotel that has been upgraded over the years. The air and TV work good. You will like the tile tubs. Get use to the pets that will rest in the wooden loovers of the windows. They all have screens.

Take you a folding cooler bag. As there is not an ice machine on the entire place. Rent a car from Rentadosa or CP Rentals. Both have given some excellent rates. Go the Chedraui (Mexican Wal Mart) and pick up a few groceries. Cokes, beer, lunch meats, chips, etc. and a couple of bags of ice. They also have nice bakery for breakfast treats.

Rocking Java is a nice place for a good light breakfast. Who are you diving with? They will pick you up right across the street at the pier from the Villa Blanca. Never had a chance to check out the beach as I was too busy just taking in all the other sites.

Downtown shopping is nice. They have a movie theater, bowling, check out the east side of the island for a nice afternoon trip.

Even after 14 trips there are still things to see and friends to visit.

One of my suitcases is a rolling Igloo cooler. It's nice and rigid, so it is a good place to pack masks and other fragile items (it's long enough for my fins). The wheels are great for hauling it through airports and such, and I keep it stocked with beer and such in my room. If the fishing is good, it comes back to the States with frozen fish.

Cheers,

Check with Nancy who runs the VillaBlanca snack bar. She's an American ex-pat who knows everything worth knowing about Coz. Also, she's a real hoot!

Also, consider upgrading to a superior room. The regular rooms are tiny, superior are very nice.

Thanks for the Info. I will be with diving with Dive Cozumel on the Yellow Rose, looks like a great big fast boat. I do need to find a dive op for sunday Feb 27th because they did not think they would have enough people. Might check out Papa Hogs right across the street for that one day.

Now for the original Question about the little Beach Club across the street. Anyone been there. I was looking for a quick hang out, for only a few hours, after a dive. The big beach clubs are more for a half or whole day.

I did stay at Plaza Las Gloras last year and dove with aqua Safari and enjoyed their big slow boats. Since I was there by my self I like bigger boats so I can meet more people. We did some great dives including Devils Throat. I will be traveling alone again on this trip and love meeting diving addicts like myself.

And yes I did get the Superior room when i found out standard rooms were only 66 square feet. I think my closet is bigger

I've been there many times; we walk up from Caribe Blu to drift back quite a lot. There's a small dive shop (Papa Hog's) with a snack bar (Hog Town Cafe?) upstairs from it. I think that there is a volleyball net in a little patch of sand. There's a bank of lockers. That's pretty much it; there's not really a beach there, just some sand thrown up on the ironshore. None of the places along that section of shoreline have an actual beach.

The times that I have been there, there's hardly been anybody there, but I'm sure that's variable.
