I'm a Fish!
Do you have a passport?
I just heard only 20% of Americans have a passort.
Seems very low to me.
Have you been wanting to get one, and just haven't gotten around to it?
Or have you had one since you were 21?

I'm surprised its even 20%. The vast majority of the country has not even seen much outside their home state, let alone the country.

I got my passport when I was 23.

I had a passport when I was a kid for a European vacation but I let it lapse. I renewed it in 1994 at the age of 30 in order to begin travelling and diving in the Caribbean.

A population of scuba divers is probably not a representative sample. But the answer is yes.

My husband from Texas, has been a certified diver YMCA since he was 14 years old. He just got his first ever passport, 3 years ago, when he met me.

I got my passport a few years ago b/c I was flying to Canada. I know, you don't need one. But I didn't want to hassle with the whole birth certificate thing. It wasn't even for diving.

I have one because I travel to Europe often for vacation and for business frequently.

I'm surprized about the 20%. I wonder if that is for all ages. A lot of kids don't require passports. I didn't get mine until I was 22.

I had to get my passport when I was 26, for a business trip to Ireland. I've been over to Europe every year since then... on business; But I actually prefer to do my personal travel inside the US.

As all of our out-of-country travel had been to dive locations that did not require a passport ( photo I D and birth certificate were sufficient), we never got one, but we kept saying we should ("procrastinators r us".) :)
After 9/11, with all the increased (??) airport security, we got them. It was so simple to do, that I feel really dumb about waiting so long.
