I am 5'10" and 200 lbs so I fall between the medium and large BCDs.

Should I go with weight or height when choosing a BCD?

Neither. Fit in the water. A good shop that won't let you try gear in the water probably shouldn't be in business.

I am 6’, 205lbs and the large is almost too big around the waist. I would highly recommend trying one on first.
 
I'm 4'10 150. I wear a M/L lady hawk. You really need to try them on, in water if possible to see what fits YOU.
