Don't buy, until you have dove with the same bcd. I have had dive buddies quit diving because of an uncomfortable bcd. There are a lot of good brands with features that look good on paper. But, if your tanks "roll around" on your back during a dive, you will be uncomfortable. The wife of a friend was ready to quit, without telling us why. . . the color coordinated BC that fit in the showroom dry, without a tank in it, was letting the tank shift from side to side while diving. We took her to a dive shop on the lake and rented a jacket that fit. . . comfort. The jacket was all black, wasn't pretty, but it was comfortable. She's still diving 8 years later, and won't let her husband leave her behind if he's going diving.

Some stores will let you dive their pool to try out the fit of their brands. Sometimes you can travel for a long weekend of diving in another area. Whatever it takes to get in the water with a bc, do it. Comfort is the ONLY requirement for a comfortable dive, not pockets, not extra D-rings, not color stripes. If you can't dive with the BC. Just rent until you find what you want.

I have a Balance and have no complaints. Best bet is to try them
both out and then decide.

What does your LDS sell?

My advice is try and find one of each to try on put a tank and weight in and see how it fits. After that look at the pockets, d rings, strap options, and lift capacity. Find one that will best suit you and your diving in the future.

I have the Balance and really like it. It fits well over my wet and dry suit and is easy to put on and take off.

Ya I'm loving my Balance. But that Excursion looks really nice too! Glad I didn't have to make this decision :-)

Let us know what u pick!

I would look up other shops in your area and try on a BCD before buying.
