Can any one help
I am after a set of 4 con rod big end needle bearings for a k14.
Bauer dont sell them as a spare part [you have to order con rods]
I have come to a blank trying to trace the right size bearings.

Type NAO 25mmX42mmX13mm

One option i have come up with is
i can get bearings 17mm long

Grind inner and outer races down to 13mm
remove needles from cage + some extra needles also down to 13mm
This option runs with out a cage.

Your thoughts please

If you look closely at the cage you should find some markings. You may need a magnifying glass.

I do know that Timkin makes bearings for nearly any application including many types of roller bearings. And I'm sure Bauer sources rod bearings from someone else, it's just a matter of finding out who sources for them.

I wouldn't recommend grinding down longer bearings and running without a cage, but it is a possibility. You'd need to stuff the con rod end with enough needles to fill the gap left by removing the cage. There were some automotive transmission applications that used needle bearings in this manner with a hardened washer/spacer on each side of the needles to locate them laterally. The gap between the last pair of needles (with all of the other needles touching) was usually about half the diameter of one needle.

Go to 5000psi.com and use the contact info. I can't locate the info right now, but I'm sure they have them available.
