I just purchased a 2003 Bauer Junior ii 230v compressor with auto condensate drain. It looks great and it saw very little use. Im having a small issue with it, the compressor shuts off by itself at around 3900 psi. I attached a picture of the compressor control panel below it has an overload relay with adjustment wheels the black wheel on the left with amp settings that can go all the way to 30 and a smaller light blue wheel on the right with the letters M for manual and A for Auto, its currently set just below 20 amps and on Manual. There is an air line running from the output port all the way inside the compressor control panel and that could be hooked up to a pressure switch that shuts it off at 3900 psi is there a different switch i can use that goes to 4500psi instead? Also should i leave the right overload relay dial on manual or switch it to auto? Any help is appreciated.

it looks like there is an air line that goes into the back of the panel. What that connects to is likely the pressure switch. @Dsix36 is more familiar with these than I am, but I would not recommend going over 3900psi. It's not rated to fill bank bottles, so you shouldn't be running any higher than where it is.

I want to use it to refill my 4500psi carbon fiber tanks id like to at least increase the pressure to 4200psi. But im not sure if the pressure switch that's hooked up to that air line is adjustable. Do you know of a 4500psi pressure switch i can hook up to it instead?

yes, but you'll have to show a picture of the switch itself to see if it's adjustable or not

Oh alright ill check when i get home. One more thing on the overload relay/ mini breaker inside the control panel should i leave the left dial on Manual or Switch it to Auto?

leave it on manual
Any clue what these brass things are in the picture below? Also that solenoid valve is only rated for like 200psi and when it opens it dumps the pressure inside the filter tower too, how is it holding back the 4000psi?

You’re going to burn up that little compressor if you’re always going to be filling 4500 psi tanks. They’re not made for that. You should have bought something else
Listen to this guy. These compressors are great but definitely not designed for heavy duty use or 4500psi.

That's completly wrong. The Junior is designed to be used at 300 bar /4500 psi, the overpressure valve opens at 330 bar. You can even read these 4500 psi on the compressor.
Bauer has a switch unit which reduces pressure from 4500 psi down to 3000 psi, including filling hoses for 4500 and 3000. So you can not have 4500 on the 3000 hose which is important, otherwise you can pump the 3000psi cylinder up to 4500.
Buyx this unit, turn the relay up to 4500 psi and verything is fine.
