I would like to use the same batteries in my cameras and strobes. I also would like to use rechargables -Nickel metal hydride.

Can I use this type of battery in my MXIIEX? If not, why not?

Hello,

I'm not sure you can use the same type of batteries, would be nice. I'm not sure what type it takes. The problem with using rechargable is a slowed recharge time in strobes. In camera bodies it shouldn't make a difference unless your using the onboard flash then the above applies. Not to mention the usable range, i.e. pictures per charge, is a little less than non-rechargables.

I was told by the Sea & Sea rep as well as several camera repairmen, not to use rechargeable batteries in the camera, they are preferrable for strobes though.

As Ed mentions, the biggest problem with rechargeables is they go from working to dead, no warning. Because of this, I change batteries in my strobes after every dive, just in case.
