Hi All. I am new to the board and to scuba (this is my first post):)

I am going to be taking the open water certification course soon and I am about to buy my personal gear. I have done a lot of homework and have narrowed it down to 2 package deals. I think these offer the best gear for the money and I was looking for any feedback good or bad on either set. I've tried the search function but I still can't find anything on the edge cruiser gear. All of the feedback on the Cressi gear has been great, but is it worth the $30 extra, does it make that big of a difference?

1) Edge Package $70

2) Cressi Sub Package $100

Thanks a lot for your help!

One More question as well....

I am going to be doing all of my diving in warm water. Should I go with short boots or reg. boots?

Thanks!

Unless you're going to be doing a lot of shore diving where you have to walk on rocks I'd go with the short boots. Booties generally have thinner soles and there is a little less hassle with booties.

Be sure to match the boot and fin. Fin pockets vary in size and you need to make sure your boot/s fit the pocket properly. Pick the fin and match the boots to the fins.

If I was going to choose one of the two packages you listed it would be the Cressi even though you have to pick up a tote bag separately.

Go for the cressis. I own 2 cressi maska, a big-eye and a Horizon. Best masks I've ever had in terms of comfort and field of vision. As for fins, I'm a big fan of full-foot fins (real men don't wear booties!). You should give them a try when you get the chance.
