Greetings -

Anyone with the above-named setup is familiar with the camera's controls locking up if the housing's zoom control (which is not self-centering, but could be with an easy fix by Ikelite) is not manually returned to center. Problem is, there is no way visually to see where the control is positioned, and it's not practical to try to look through the housing to see where the fork on the bottom of the control is positioned.

The housing's zoom knob is some type of plastc/nylon/Delrin, and with a small triangular file, I cut a groove avross the top of the knob and down the back (the knob removes easily with a metric Allen wrench). Then I filled the groove with white paint. Not elegant, but hey, it works!

Note to Ikelite: It's still OK to go ahead and fix this issue correctly!

I know ... I could just buy the $800.00 RecSea housing, right? Send me a PM, and I'll send my address. When I get your check ... I'll buy it! ;)

Wow, amazingly simple. That belongs in the why didn't I think of that category.

I'll have to take the time and give it a go myself.

I agree 100% with you on this! The zoom control on the Ikelite housing for the S90/S95 is a major pita. Whoever designed it should have stayed home that day!!

Not to detract from what you've done but I think that just a small line of white out on the near side is a potentially easier solution.

Whatever floats your boat, turns your crank, sinks your rig, turns you on ... go for it ;)
