Hi everyone,
I am newly Open Water Certified so still very much a beginner (currently at 10 dives). I am going to Bali in August with non-diving friends but am keen to do a day of diving whilst I’m there. Any recommendations for locations / dive companies that are good for beginners?

Bali is a big island. Where are you planning to stay?

We will initially be in Seminyak but will be then moving on elsewhere for the second half of the trip (but haven’t decided where yet)

Seminyak is so crowded, noisy and traffic-jammy these days. I avoid the Bali south nowadays.

My personal favorite area is northwest Bali - Gilimanuk to Pemuteran and surrounds. You can dive the Menjangan sites. It is in the national park and have gentle currents, nice walls, turtles, good corals etc. The beaches are also good, some snorkeling (they've got some artificial reefs that's come out nicely over the years).

There are other things to explore like a winery (really), waterfalls, temples, trekking in the national park, etc. Some hotels have kayaks, standup paddle boards. No shopping or nightlife to speak of, though.
