Leaving for Bonaire this Friday. Flying AA to SJ, the AA Eagle to Bonaire. Can anyone who has done this trip let me know about baggage limits (for both legs of the trip)? Will I be ok checking one big bag (50#) and carrying on (i) a typical black roller bag, and (ii) a smallish duffel bag? Thanks!

Each passenger on AA (and American Eagle) is allowed two bags up to 50 pounds each free of charge. Beyond the 50 pounds there is a fee. When you board the American Eagle plane in San Juan you will have to give your roller bag to the handler at plane side as it will not fit in the overhead bin. You will collect it planeside when you land in Bonaire. Whether they ask for your duffel bag depends on the size.

We had a 7hr. layover in San Juan, if you do also, there's nothing to do at the airport.

We took a cab to one of the resorts on Isla Verde, paid the bellhop to watch our carryons, had lunch and played in the casino for a while. Most of them are walled and the one we ate at (the Intercontinental?) wouldn't let you back onto the property from the beach without a room key - so check with the security guard first.

Someone posted here that there's lockers across from the AA ticketing counter (not AE - that's a different terminal) also.

It's not even a 10min. ride over and the cost is fixed if you get into a licensed cab.

You also can't carry-on your Bass Fiddle in coach just in case you were thinking about bringing it. Even if you buy it a seat.
