I just don't log dives
Has anyone tried the quick release variant of these pockets?

Mine have flaps that fold over the weights and are secured with velcro strips. It takes very little time to pull up the flaps and remove the weights.

So took the plunge today and ordered a backplate and wing setup. I went with more of a recreational harness that straight simple webbing since I like the ability to adjust while its on and the quick release. I've been on a few dives with a backplate and wing setup and I'm just more comfortable in the water with it. I really dislike jackets. I went with Hollis, and a custom wing from Halcyon. SS Plate. No Tank adapter yet, but I think I will probably get one in the future if only to get another 6 pounds off of my waist.
I got a Oxycheq 6 lb weighted STA, a lot less expensive than the Halcyon and I like it better.

That's sure some fashion statement, and you got an sta enjoy it.

So the custom Halcyon Wing was always part of the deal. I tried a couple setups, and didn't like not being able to adjust the harness on with the simple harness setups. I ended up going with the Hollis elite harness. Originally the Wing was supposed to be slotted so I wouldn't have needed an STA right away, but it appears Halcyon made a mistake as well. Its a Frankenstein.

I really like my Halcyon weighted STA. It’s true that you won’t or won’t want to pack it while traveling but I dive with steel tanks locally so have to deal with AL tanks while traveling anyway. Get the OMS trim pockets for the cam straps. Good size and when weighted almost as well trimmed as the weighted STA
I do travel with mine when I use a thicker wet suit, still manage to keep the entire dive bag under that 50lbs limit.
