Rich, that item looks like it was designed for flotation so you will need to add more weight to offset the buoyancy. If you have over 5,000 dives don't you have an old wetsuit to cut to use for padding?
 
It was just an FYI, I have no use for it but the thing looked like it was made for this reason. The one I saw was about as thick as a 7mm suit and while I do have some old suits, I do not have the type of back plate that sport divers are accustom to using. It will probably be more buoyant then wet suit material but will also provide better padding as well. It would be good for someone looking for more comfort then wet suit material can provide.
