I just got back from Cayo Coco. Weather was not very supportive; wind was very strong so no boats were heading out but at the end I managed to do few dives.

There are only two dive centers in Cayo Coco: Blue Diving, which is join venture Cuban-Italian and is pretty good and Trip Cayo-Coco, which is entirely Cuban.

The guys from Blue Diving are pretty good, gear is pretty good, good briefs, personnel friendly I was pleased with their service. They have one big boat, which can hold 18-20 people, and their own bus so any trip you plan you’ll have transportation provided by them.

Trip Cayo Coco is a mess… everything they want is money (welcome to Cuba…) without giving anything in return. The didn’t want to talk to us over the phone so we went there paid for few dives $40/dive and agreed to be picked up next morning form the hotel. Next morning they tried to charge us extra 50$ for the dive, extra $10 for gear, extra $40 for tank (?) and extra $90 for transportation even though we agreed a day before that everything was paid for.
We were 6 in the group and none of us paid “extra” for the dives so Trip Cayo Coco cancelled the dive for that day. Next day we got out money back form the travel rep and went to Blue Diving.
Right before heading back to Toronto we found out that the very first day we arrived in CC some divers were left in the water for several hours just because the DM and the captain of the boat forgot to pick them up… and yes that was Trip Cayo Coco diving center.

Thanks for the update.
Should I travel to Cayo Coco, at least I know which dive center not to choose.

Yes I meet Ivan - very nice guy - actually I have few pics with him.

flipflop:
Did you happen to run across a guy named Ivan with Blue Diving at C.C.!

Forgot the pics...
