I just don't log dives
new week so new thread to show and tell....

today was no diving for me, stuck in the office, but the car is all packed for a couple of dives tomorrow - anyone else??

Yea just got back from diving :) Unfortunately the Eliza Ramsden was canceled because of shipping so we went to Lonsdale Wall. My deep diving instructor told me that he booked 18 times on the Ramsden before he was able to dive it :O So we will rebook tomorrow for next week. *fingers crossed*

Lonsdale Wall was nice, viz was ok but we got to see lots of Port Jacksons, Blue Devils and various other fish :) One guy saw a massive crayfish but we missed out unfortunately. We found our way back to the shot line, which we thought was a little weird given we'd swum in a straight line but ended up on another boat's line and were signaling them to pick us up. :dork2: The boat people found it quite amusing. :D

Second dive was at Mornington Pier. Viz was terrible but we got to see heaps of Old Wives, some Yellow-Tailed Mullets, Leatherjackets and a cute seahorse (hey getting better at the fish iding :P).

Also yesterday me and my buddy did our Deep diving course theory, which was cool as we got to learn about a lot of extra stuff too (think I am now half way through a Nitrox course now haha). We do our five course dives on 14th and 15th June so can't wait!

Finally, my buddy (chilledmammel - he's new around scubaboard) is getting a camera in the next few weeks! YAY I can finally post some proper pics soon. :D

Taking out my first group tomorrow as a DMT, wish me luck :)

Will let you know how everything goes. Plan is to go to a few of the sites around Stradbroke.

:D

Oo good luck Mig :) Hope it goes well for you!~~~

just about to head out for our dive and people are saying sydney vis is very good - blue water already coming in :multi:

goodluck Mig!!! just remember - bring them all back... even the americans ;)

today we dived Kurnell... waiting for hubby to open his camera but it was a 90min dive with 2 very extreme conditions

first 35mins was fantastic! 20mtrs/60ft and still warm

then it went down to 5mtrs/15ft viz with a cold chill.... brrrrr and it stayed that way for another 40mins before it started to clear again

ended up with a 90min dive (about our average these days) and we saw weedys, lots of big cuttlefish, big ray, huge stone fish and the blue gropers are bigger than i remember

had a dive planned down in fortescue bay kelp forest... apparently one of the best shore dives in the state
unfortunately i had to attend a dinner last night and due to an extremely severe hangover, diving was canceled (as well as several other activities according to the missus ... damn)

Its Monday morning and my whole body is aching! I had a massive day yesterday. I was at the store at 7am getting the van loaded for the 6 divers that were coming up to Stradbroke with me. Left with 6 divers, came back with 6 divers, a good result for my first supervising certified divers experience as a DMT :)

For both dives we went out to Flat Rock just off Stradbroke Island. The first dive site was a place called Turtle Caves. Plenty to see on this dive, lots of colourful schools of fish, some big wobbegongs and of course, the turtles! The wobbe's were nice and active today, I only normally see them asleep on the ocean floor but today they were all awake and moving about. Second dive we did a site called The Bowl, named so because its in the shape of a bowl. Vis on the first was nice, over 15m and dropped down to about 10m on the second. Water temp was about 22. I spent the majority of the two dives watching the other divers rather than the marine life :( Lots of fun regardless :)

Man, the whale sharks are rocking! They were popping up everywhere today. I went out with an exclusive group and they were too tired to do more after 1130 so we came home. Our other boat is still out there happily swimming with a whole heap of different ones!

Gotta do some real work now, but here's a quickie

The conditions are just meant to get better this week, so here's hoping I can get out for more sharks and/or some dives!
