Hello, anybody get out on the weekend for some diving?

I was out yesterday with my regular buddy, we'd planned J4 again but he forgot his contacts and said it would only be worthwhile diving if the vis was less than a foot :rofl3: Anyway, whilst he drove to meet his wife half way for the contacts I did the dive (I did offer to sit it out but my buddy said no way! :P), had a really nice buddy I met on the boat so it was a nice dive and no one went OOA this time ;) Tried to go inside but it was too surgy and got thrown around a bit so we left and stuck to the outside.

Anyway, my regular buddy made it back with his contacts and we did a night dive at Blairegowie. We have been hunting octopuses for months as we both haven't seen one, but my buddy said he didn't want to be disappointed again so we gave up our search. About 20mins into the dive I spotted a tentacle out of the corner of my eye and it was a sand octopus! Three of them in fact. Very exciting~~~ I signalled frantically to my buddy and he was photographing some dumpling squid so he said he was thinking "this better be better than dumpling squid" :rofl3: Anyway, here are the results of our nightdive and octopus discovering:

And we found some other critters too:
Smooth toadfish

Very inquisitive puffer - I have never had one chase me before!

Spot the decorated crab! I was staring at this pylon for ages trying to figure out what my buddy was pointing at :p

We managed to get out on Ningaloo for the first time since the first of June. Winter has finally arrived here and I had to put my wetsuit on for the first time this year as the water temperature is down to a downright chilly 23°C/74°F. We got four dives in and were rewarded with some of the best visibility this year despite a very large swell and a lot of surge on Saturday.

Gudge - awesome that you guys got out for some dives finally! I hope the conditions stay nice so you can play with your new toys (to be delivered to you guys this afternoon ;) ). I'm looking forward to getting back in the water, for sure.

It's good to be home again!
