I'm a Fish!
I finally got in the water today! Yippeee :D

The nudibranchs are rockin - there are tons of different species out and about, including one I don't think I've seen before and a couple that I haven't seen on this particular dive site before.

I haven't ID'd this 3mm guy yet

Water was about 22C but I dived in just my sharkskin (full suit + hooded vest + socks) and wasn't cold (65 minutes). Go figure.

Whales are everywhere ... we had to stop the boat on the way to the dive site because a bunch of them changed direction and simply swam leisurely directly in front of us! Lots of mantas cruising for a feed, too.

Beautiful!

Yay cool~~ Glad to hear you got out :) What kind of whales were they? I would love to see whales and mantas sometime!

I got out last night for a bunch of night dives at Williamstown. Was there with a group doing a night diving course. Lots and lots of sea urchins but my buoyancy is a lot better than last time I went there (I think dive 21) so I didn't get any spikes in me this time :) Saw a blue-ring, flatheads and gobies. But my regular buddy was away so no pictures this time. :( Not sure what the go is for Saturday, probably really early shore dives somewhere cos my buddy is going to a grand final party... and I have to work Sunday :depressed:

heheheh

i too FINALLY got into the water today....... day 1 of the Padi Seal Team training :lotsalove:

heheheh almitychild had a refresher and her younger brother did a discover scuba while another young girl started her seal team thingy.... the younger nephew starts his Jnr OW next week

BUT

ive just packed the car and we are off diving tomorrow :yeahbaby:

we going to do shelley beach because hubby hasnt taken his meg out for about 6 weeks now so a nice easy one to make sure everything is ok

ive even packed the wetsuit!

Safe diving almity! The seal team sounds like a blast: how are the kids enjoying it, and how old to they have to be to join?

I’m packing my bags and am getting out of the desert for THREE WHOLE MONTHS!! Wooohooo!! The company I work for is allowing me to work from home in Brisbane while we wait for the bub to arrive. They seem to be under the impression I will continue to studiously work from home, and that I will resist the temptation to go on a three month diving binge! :D

However I somehow have a feeling once I’m on nappy changing duties my dive gear will be hung up to dry once again...

I can’t wait to get down there and get in the water .

(oh, and get my hands on the latest ScubaDiver AustralAsia..... :whistling: )

Cheers,
Rohan.

Woo cool to hear you are getting out almitywife. :) Hope it is a nice day for you for diving.

Yea I think you should get as much diving in now Tassie, work can wait :P Where abouts do you go in Brisbane for diving?

I was out yesterday, just some pier dives. We changed our gear around a bit so were practicing with that (put longer hoses on our kits). And a bunch of other skills like swapping masks and things, much easier these days than when I started!!! Took a few pictures but they are at home (I am at work today GRRR). Saw the giant stingray again, it looks like we have found his hidey hole as he is in the same spot each time we dive. :) But yea Rescue and Nitrox next week so looking forward to them!!!

well we were going to dive Shelley today but the northwest winds are up so we went to bare island instead

conditions were very flat with a bit of a wind blowing outside, still a cool 15deg and the viz was down to about 5mtrs but spotted a very nice red indian fish, baby frog fish, usual octopus and schools of fish and had a very very friendly blue groper with us for the entire dive as he obviously hoped i was going to give him feed of sea urchin

i tried to look in the upside down pipefish hole to see if they were still there but a big blobby thing moved ini and i couldnt see past it

kept an eye out for Petunia to show up be we had finished out dive and was leaving by 9.30am so if there dived today we missed them

but finally dived :bounce2:

Yep .. we missed you, we saw your car there and frenchie told us you were getting in the water about 7:30 when he arrived. We got there about 8 and were getting in about 8:30 ish ... only did an hour 15 dive. We did the eastern side, been probably close to a year since I did that side ... was amazed by all the sponges and colour.

Nice dive even against the outgoing tide, viz around 8m temp 16° ... a little bit cool ... I must be turning into a woos ... complaining about the temp being 16 and diving in a 3mil wettie ... must be time to buy a dry suit.

Anyway .. it was good to finally get back in the water.

did you see alot of port jackson shark eggs aboot?? i notice quite a few of them yesterday

No ... cant say I noticed a lot of eggs, but did see about 4 PJ's ... one quite big one

:blinking: I saw 3 PJ's and about 4 PJ eggs. Heaps of Nudis of all types. I find there is a lot of colour on the eastern side but not as much fishlife as the western. Where was the Red Indian? hmmmm if Fish gets a drysuit can I get one too????:D
