if you want to creme-de-la-creme then Halcyon is the
way to go.

 
AUL defintely seems to be lesser known... they do have slots in center which are compatible with the new no-STA Halcyon Pioneer wings, but lack the extra openings around the edge for other other Halcyon add-ons (ie. backpad, maybe ACB). Construction seems typical, haven't compared materials. Overall the AULs should do the trick.

Comes to about $35. This is literally "rough around the edges"... note the side-bar to have a file handy to round slots before rigging. Seems to have a decent following.

I own an aluminum bp from Fred Tagge. It is really made well and reasonable priced. You can reach him at ftagge@acadiacom.net . I've heard that AUL is selling his backplates now.
