How does it look now for you chris ? I changed it to a smaller type size. Hope it works better for you. It is now however, teenie tiny on my screen compared to all the other type,.... very strange. No worries, I will just CTL-> "+" on mine to read it. If my "fix" has not worked out there for the rest of the "So Hot we are cool because we are August Scubaboard Cozumel Divers " crowd....just let me know... k: A-OK !

I dunno, it could be my browser and browser settings, along with my age - but I keep SB on CTRL +5. It seems that you were using font #4 before, now #3, but I'm not even sure what the default size it?

This is #1 and it's larger...?

Oh you can take the ? mark off of my dive Op. I'll be with Opal's. Looks like BGDA has enough for a private boat with them that week, but being a single - they'll stick me where they can I suppose. I know it's tough for an Op matching divers to boats, how many boats & crew to launch each day, etc.

Would love to dive with other from scubaboard, but I am very much a newbie with only 4 dives post- o/w cert. Anyone have any dive shop suggestions and/or B&B/accommodation suggestions?

I recommend you review the Cozumel Forum for trip reports for the past few months. From this information, as well as the many "Best" and "Favorite" dive ops posts, decide which 3 - 5 dive ops are of most interest to you. Then, contact those dive ops and ask what their availability is for a new/solo diver who is looking for a buddy.

After you secure your Dive OP, then find your lodging as Dive pick up piers and locations vary from Dive Op to Dive Op. In the meantime, I will suggest for a B & B, Villa Escondida. This four room B & B is located in town on Avenida 10 between called 3 and Rosada Salas. Each room has its own bathroom, Queen bed, desk and closet storage. There are now phones or TV in the rooms. However, calls can be made to the main number and David and Magda will promptly find the guest with phone in hand or deliver a message. There is also a rather fast WI-FI set up with those who need to be connected. My husband usually has to work while on vacation and he says the connection keeps him busy enough with his IBM peeps. We have also found that it is easy to communicate with our dive op via Email or Facebook PM. It is an easy walking distance to the town Pier where our dive op (Blue XT SEA) picks up as well as to the many in town restaurants and sights. Taxi's are readily available as well. The owners, David and Magda, live in their own home on the property. They have for guest use a beautiful pool, common room with TV and fridge, dive gear rinsing (not a tank, but a dive hose system that is awesome) as well as areas to hang gear out to dry. Magda makes the most wonderful and delicious breakfasts to get your day started. Check out their website at Villa Escondida Cozumel Bed and Breakfast

I highly recommend, you explore the idea of doing AOW while you are in Cozumel. You will likely get private instruction at affordable group rates. The teacher will be your buddy during your class dives and will make your experience much safer and rewarding.

sconway, in addition to the two required AOW courses, Underwater navigator and Deeper water diving, you will need to choose three more courses to complete AOW. Three good ones for Cozumel to add are Peak Performance Buoyancy, Boat Diver and Drift Diver. You will learn and review skills that are applicable to diving Cozumel, plus, as jlyle suggested, have a diving buddy with you at all times ! Perhaps you may also want to Night Diver ! The AOW open water course can be started online and much of your coursework could be completed before you start your vacation. This way, you won't be using up valuable vacation time hitting the books. So if this idea is of interest to you, seek out a Dive Op that is proactive in teaching !
