What: Tear Down/Prep the Ferry to become an Artificial Reef

When: Saturday, April 25, 9:30 am arrival, end time up to you, but goal is 2:00 pm

Where: Marisco Shipyard

Details:

Wikoliana received the old Ford Island Ferry "Moko Holo Hele" and needs your help to get her ready to sink offshore (off the coast of Oahu) to create an artificial reef/dive site. She will be the best dive site in Hawaii because of the lay out of all the spaces and large openings to swim through. The type of work needed is removal of excess items that were left on the ferry, organizing re-usable/recyclable items and general clean-up under Captain Jeff's direction.

You'll be out in the sun so be sure to wear sunscreen, hat and bring water! :)

Please wear CLOSED TOE SHOES if you will be working on the Ferry. If you have work gloves, please bring them.

The task is simple but lots of hands are needed so share this event with everyone! :)

Blade has spent many years cataloging the wrecks of Oahu. He and I have talked for a long time about a project of this magnitude....... It's critical we all jump in and help.

I'm looking forward to this upcoming weekend for sure as I have been tied up with other obligations for the past few weeks. Hoping to get a good crew of our locals divers, dive club members and other ocean lovers out for this amazingly cool community directed event. Please feel free to share with anyone (non divers as well).

Mahalo!

Can't make it, no problem. Usually there is a workday every Saturday, stay tune for more details.
This is a community driven project, the ship is being donated by the Marisco Shipyard, It is up to us as a “Volunteer Community” to make it happen, all the work is being done by volunteers. This project is good fun for family and friends to get together. We have had a lot of youth join in the work there is something to do for everyone. We have set up a break area with a BBQ and shave ice station with six flavors of shave ice:) Spread the word, and please tell your friends and neighbors.

Thank You,
